Park Ridge Anesthesiology Associates (PRAA) was founded in 1995 by 32 independent anesthesiologists seeking to maintain the highest quality patient care in a challenging managed care environment. Presently we are 41 physicians and the largest physician-only anesthesiology group in the Chicago area. We provide a full spectrum of perioperative care including preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative management. This web site is to provide you with some information about PRAA, its members, and the services that we provide.

PRAA provides service at several facilities including Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL – Golf Surgical Center in Des Plaines, IL - Illinois Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center in Morton Grove, IL and Hawthorn Surgery Center in Libertyville, IL.

At Lutheran General Hospital (LGH) we have a round-the-clock in-house anesthesiologist to provide emergency surgical and emergency obstetric care. PRAA provides one-patient-one-doctor care (1:1) for all operative procedures. In a 2 year study that looked at over 1300 metropolitan hospitals a nonprofit consumer education organization in Washington, DC ranked LGH #10 in the nation for overall quality of care. Along with Northwestern University Memorial Hospital, LGH was found to have the lowest 30-day surgical mortality in the Midwest..

We strongly believe that this uncommon 1:1 approach to anesthetic care is the reason that LGH has the
LOWEST POSTOPERATIVE MORTALITY in the Chicago area!

We are our patients' advocate. Pre-operatively, we confirm that appropriate testing and preparation has been completed. During surgery, in the operating room, we are responsible for the medical and anesthetic management of the patient throughout the entire surgery. After surgery, we monitor emergence from anesthesia and can often utilize regional anesthetic techniques or nerve blocks that can greatly diminish or completely eliminate surgical pain.

In physician-only anesthetic care, the other hallmark of PRAA is our sub-specialty trained physicians in all areas of anesthesiology. We provide sub-specialists for Pediatric, Obstetric, Cardiac, and Critical Care Services. We also provide an Acute Pain Service for monitoring and control of surgical pain.
